Nursery
Seedlings are raised in our own nursery, under shade netting, until they are strong enough for the field.
Agarwood Eco Capital grows Aquilaria, the tree that produces agarwood, on permaculture plantations in Thailand. We raise our seedlings in our own nursery and use no synthetic fertilisers or pesticides.
Agarwood is the dark, fragrant heartwood of the Aquilaria tree. At our main plantation, specialists inoculate the trees, and over years resin turns the pale wood dark. Distilled, agarwood becomes oud oil, a prized material in perfumery.
Our aim is to grow high-quality, sustainable agarwood using permaculture principles, and to build a reliable supply chain from seedling to finished product while giving back to the local community.
Land prepared by hand, seedlings raised in our own nursery, and rows of Aquilaria growing alongside the plants that keep the soil alive.

Seedlings are raised in our own nursery, under shade netting, until they are strong enough for the field.

Saplings are planted on land prepared by hand. They grow among cover crops, fed with compost, with no synthetic chemicals.

Specialists inoculate the trees, timed to climate and environmental conditions. Over years, resin darkens the pale wood into fragrant heartwood.

In agarwood production, trees are harvested once the heartwood has developed. The resinous wood is then separated from the pale wood.
Resinous wood is graded and cut into chips for incense, or distilled into oud oil for fine fragrance and attar. The leaves can be dried for tea.
On our plantations, Aquilaria grows among cover crops and green manures, not in bare rows. We use no synthetic fertilisers or pesticides.

Compost, green manures and cover crops build soil structure and feed the microbes that keep the trees healthy.

A biodiverse plantation, beneficial insects and plant-based repellents keep pests in check without synthetic chemicals.

Ponds and drip lines keep water where the trees need it, through dry months and wet.
Agarwood's character deepens as resin develops over years. It is used in four main forms: oud oil, chips, powder and leaves.
| Form | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Oud oil | Fine fragrance and attar |
| Chips | Incense, burned on charcoal |
| Powder | Incense sticks and cones |
| Leaves | Agarwood leaf tea |
